What is STEP-IN?

STEP-IN is a nine-month programme for adults who want to discover the Christian faith — and take their first steps into it.

It follows a journey: around twenty sessions, fortnightly, each one building on the last. There’s a clear sequence and a real method — nothing random, nothing rushed, nothing thrown at you all at once.

Each session brings together people with real questions, honest doubts, and that “I don’t even know where to start” feeling. Which is exactly who this is for.

No pressure. No prior knowledge required. Just a genuine desire to find out more.

Is STEP-IN for me?

STEP-IN is designed primarily for adults (18+) who feel drawn to explore the Christian faith, but aren’t quite sure where they fit. Participants aged 16–17 may attend with parental consent.

If you recognise yourself in one of these three descriptions, then STEP-IN is for you.

Never been baptised

Something has happened — or is happening. Suddenly you’re asking questions you never expected to ask. You find yourself wondering: how do I get baptised? What would that actually mean for my life?

01

Baptised — but that’s where it stopped

You were baptised. But nobody ever told you what came next. You may have attended church on a handful of occasions, but faith was never really part of your world — until now.

STEP-IN can help you prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation — the step that completes what baptism began, and opens the door to a fully active life of faith.

02

Baptised, but not Catholic

You already believe. You have your own tradition. But something about Catholicism keeps drawing your attention — and you can’t quite ignore it. Perhaps you feel called to become Catholic, to be fully received into the Church.

STEP-IN offers a space to explore that honestly, without pressure. For those who are ready, it can be a pathway toward being received into the full communion of the Catholic Church — a step taken freely, when the time is right.

What Happens When You Sign Up for STEP-IN?

Once you register, we’ll confirm your place in due time. Well before the programme begins, you’ll receive the full schedule — so you know exactly what to expect and can plan ahead.

The Search runs over approximately nine months, with around 20 sessions in total.

Every session begins with a few moments to arrive, breathe, and connect. No rushing in.

Each gathering includes a short video introducing the theme, a guided discussion in a relaxed setting, a brief teaching moment led by Fr. Joe Antony or a guest facilitator, and time for personal sharing and community — sometimes with snacks.

The sessions follow a gradual rhythm — beginning with life’s most fundamental questions and slowly going deeper. Every session builds on the previous one. Nothing is random. Nothing is rushed.

The journey has a destination: Pentecost 2027.

A fitting moment — the day the Church was born, and the day new beginnings are celebrated. Everything in The Search is oriented toward that point, not as a finish line, but as a culmination.

As the programme unfolds, natural moments of discernment will emerge. Through personal conversations and honest sharing, some participants may feel drawn toward a next step — whether that’s Baptism, Confirmation, or being received into the Catholic Church.

These moments won’t be announced upfront. They’ll be introduced at the right time, as the journey progresses. Once you’re part of The Search, you’ll come to understand the rhythm — and when the time comes, you’ll know.

There is never any pressure. But if you feel ready, the path forward will be there — and you won’t walk it alone.
